In pétanque the objective is to score points by having boules closer to the target than the opponent after all boules have been thrown. This is achieved by throwing or rolling boules closer to the small target ball, officially called a jack[2] (French: cochonnet),[3] or by hitting the opponents' boules away from the target, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground. The game is normally and best played on hard dirt or gravel. It can be played in public areas in parks or in dedicated facilities called boulodromes
At Sully Pétanque Club, we will offer both sides of the game: the friendly, laid-back social game where the result is second to meeting with friends and spending a couple of hours of light exercise in good company, and the competitive matches where every point is fought for and winning is essential. Sessions for all ages and abilities will be organised and supervised by qualified coaches.
We currently have 8 purpose build wheelchair accessible pétanque pistes located next to the Sully Indoor Bowls Stadium (SWBRC). The pistes are open to members every day of the week and all year round.
If you want to join us or learn more about the game, come and see us on Saturday afternoons from 14:00 or Sunday mornings from 10:00 at:
